tikobane trust

“Sharing – Empowering actions that speak louder than words”

our mission

Tikobane is a Nambiya word that translates to mean sharing. Through skill sharing, mentorship, and supportive voluntary education projects we work to develop a culture of social responsibility both to each other and the environment around us.

We are grassroots educators living in communities adjacent to Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe. Through dialogue guidance and mentorship we open up sustainable oppurtunities and support pragmatic solutions to improve livelihoods.

Animal welfare

working animals

Our Outreach Clinics offer vital husbandry education, equipping individuals with essential animal care skills. We also promote sustainability through our Safe Harnessing and Rocket Stove projects, enhancing safety and energy efficiency in households.

domestic pets

Our Education and Clinical Outreach program focuses on managing street dogs and cats, ensuring their well-being. Through our Veterinary Professionals Outreach, we keep community animals healthy while our rescue efforts emphasize the importance of what happens next for these pets.

farm animals

We advocate for better conditions for farm animals by promoting a plant-based diet, which benefits their well-being and positively impacts our planet. By raising awareness about the environmental advantages of plant-based eating, we aim to foster compassion and improve the quality of life for all living beings.

Humane Wildlife Conflict Mitigation Training

Our Humane Wildlife Conflict Mitigation Training program is dedicated to empowering and equipping field guardians with the skills needed to manage human-wildlife conflicts effectively. We believe that coexistence is not only possible but essential for sustainable living. Through our initiatives, such as the Elephant Fences Project and Predator Boma Project, we support victims of wildlife conflict while also promoting community mitigation workshops that educate locals on best practices. Our storytelling events and collaborations with Southern Cross Productions help spread awareness about these critical issues, inviting everyone to join us in creating a harmonious balance between people and wildlife. Together, we can make a difference!

Animal village

Welcome to our Animal Village, a unique hub that combines eco-tourism with compassionate animal care and community empowerment. Our inclusive community tourism venture features an eco-lodge where guests can immerse themselves in nature while supporting local wildlife sanctuaries. Here, rescued animals find a safe haven, and visitors have the opportunity to engage with our Community Education Center, which offers grassroots training on good husbandry practices. Additionally, we provide vital animal welfare clinical support and hands-on training opportunities through our dedicated Community Training Center. Together, we strive to foster a harmonious relationship between humans and animals while promoting sustainable living practices within the community.
